Church Life Team Report

The Church Life Team of the North Roanoke Baptist Association exists to assist our association churches with revitalization programs that will aid the church in its mission for impacting lostness and becoming transformational in nature.

In our previous meetings, we developed an outline that demonstrates how we desire to accomplish this. First, we feel led to help pastors revitalize their call in pastoral leadership. This does not assume that there is a problem with their pastoral leadership, but the reality is that many pastors are exhausted and running on autopilot. The truth is that if pastors are in maintenance mode, they are not leading toward transformation. As the Church Life Team, we desire to assist pastors rekindle their flame for leading their church fearlessly and effectivelyl, giving them the support they need for the journey ahead. We can encourage one another by coming together as leaders of Christ's Chruch as Ezra did with the leaders of Israel (Ezra 7:28).

Secondly, as the Church Life Team, we desire to assist churches develop effective discipleship programs. These programs will begin with leadership (Pastors/Deacons/Ministry Leaders) so that there is a trickle-down effect within the body. Complacency is growing through the church like a spiritual cancer because discipleship is not developing relational intimacy between the believer(s) and the Lord. Effective discipleship will regain this momentum and equip the church in its vital mission for "making disciples" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Finally, the Church Life Team will help pastors and leaders develop revitalizing strategies that are intentionally mission, vision and transformationally focused. In some cases, this may require repentance, but in every case, it will require authenticity and kingdom focus. Assisting churches to become once again vibrant will equip them to alk worthy of their calling (Ephesians 4:1-7) and build value among the communities that the Lord has placed them in.
