Benefits of Working Together

Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief has been an amazing coordinated response.  Every NRBA church has had an important part of the work of NC Baptists on Mission by praying, providing financial support and/or collecting needed items, and many are sending ministry teams.  Local families, devastated communities, and our state government officials have observed this miraculous response and acknowledged this ministry to the glory of God.

As churches work together in ministry, we strengthen our corporate witness before the lost world; we encourage one another; and we are able to serve the Lord more effectively.  I have had the blessing of being able to observe neighboring NRBA churches working together in many ways.

Here are some examples:

  • Men’s, Women’s, and Youth Conferences,

  • Combined choir concerts and gospel singing,

  • Community Prayer Walks and Drives, and Prayer Breakfasts,

  • Combined VBS, Revival Services, Lenten and Easter Sunrise Services,

  • Fellowship Fish Fries, BBQ’s, and Covered Dish Gatherings with inspirational programs, Handyman/Disaster Relief Projects.

Let us consider some of the benefits that churches experience by serving together in ministry.

  • Working together reminds us that the Kingdom of God extends beyond the walls of our church. Healthy churches give themselves away in service to others.

  • Working together enables every church, no matter the size, to fulfill the ministry God is leading them to accomplish in His Name.

  • Working together acknowledges that no congregation can reach the local community or the world for Christ by themselves.

  • Working together demonstrates that we are not in competition in proclaiming the gospel. Every community within our association is composed of 50% to 75% of residents who do not know the Lord as Savior. There is plenty to do and many people to serve.

  • Working together unites and encourages us to never do ministry alone. Jesus taught His disciples to strengthen, support, inspire, and uphold one another while doing ministry.

  • Working together releases the blessings of God enabling us to do His will as we fulfill the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20).

  • Working together leads every church to focus on the questions, “Who are we?” and “Why does our church exist?” We are the redeemed of God because of the blood of Christ which was shed for us on the cross. We join together in the eternal purpose of glorifying God in every aspect of our lives. We exist as the body of Christ to build up one another as we proclaim the gospel in word and in deed to a lost world that needs Him.
